Lands & Markets Committee

Lands & Markets Committee is responsible for the management and maintenance of all lands owned by and leased to the Council, including managing the Pavilion, Play Area, Skatepark and the Boules Pitch on the Pageant Field.
It also has responsibility for the organisation and administration of the Saturday and Tuesday Markets on Market Hill.

Lands & Markets Committee Meetings usually take place on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Town Council owns and manages the following property on behalf of Framlingham:

• Market Hill (parking area)
• The Town Sign and Flag Pole
• The Pageant Field, Pavilion, Playground, Skate Park and Boules Pitch
• The Fen
• The allotments
• The Cemetery
• The War Memorial - St. Michael's Churchyard
• Jeaffreson's Well
• The Town Clock - St. Michael's Church
• 82 Lamp Posts
• 12 Cycle Racks
• 7 Benches on Market Hill, in the Cemetery and on the Fen
• 3 Notice Boards
• Litter Bins

This involves the management and maintenance of the play equipment, grass mowing and care of any trees and shrubs on the properties.
We have an agreed tree works schedule and new management plans for increasing biodiversity and wildlife on these properties.

CCTV cameras operate in the Pageant Field, and the management of this is covered by an agreed policy:

Framlingham market takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Both markets continue to thrive with seven regular traders and a large number of casual traders providing a variety of goods to complement that which is on offer in the shops in the town.

The Town Council manages and administers the market and is responsible fo the Market Regulations and their observance by the traders. The committee considers new market pitch applications monthly.

The Pavilion is conveniently situated next to the play areas on the Pageant Field, and includes covered verandas for outdoor shelter. It is available for hire and is managed by this committee. Reduced rates are available for local non profit groups.
